OUR APPROACH
ArtMath is a research-based learning system with powerful AI technologies and a unique crowdsourcing strategy that motivates and scaffolds students to openly investigate spatial and numerical relations in mathematics and leverage their cultural and real-life inspirations to create and evaluate math stories.
Instead of using conventional math problems, which promote fluency skills instead of a deep mathematical understanding, we designed and curated real-life math stories to facilitate students’ ability to analyze and represent mathematical relations. This platform allows learners to creatively transform mathematical representations to deepen their conceptual understanding of key mathematical ideas and for educators to better understand students’ conceptual change and misconceptions.
ART-Math offers every single student of different experience levels and backgrounds the opportunity to create and evaluate stories with mathematical ideas. This platform will foster student ownership, which can be an effective and practical way to support all students in meeting academic and behavioral goals.
